Academic integrity: the Red Lines
Every tutoring service quietly faces pressure to just do the work. We would rather tell you where the line is than pretend the pressure does not exist.
The seven Red Lines
- We do not write, draft, restructure or substantively edit any work that will be assessed.
- We do not complete homework, assignments, SACs or any task for a learner.
- We do not supply answers to graded or assessable questions.
- We do not sit, attend, log into or supply content for any test, exam or online assessment.
- We teach on analogue tasks we construct, never on the learner's live assessment item.
- We do not accept an engagement whose purpose is producing a deliverable rather than building capability.
- Where a learner's school or university has stricter rules, their rules apply.
The analogue task is how this works in practice. If a student asks for help with their regression
assignment, we do not touch their dataset. We build one with the same structure, teach the reasoning
until they can do it, and they then do theirs alone.
How it is enforced
For higher education learners. Section 114A of the TEQSA Act prohibits providing or advertising
academic cheating services, with penalties reaching approximately $1.665m. Our higher degree service is
built around analogue tasks precisely so that it cannot become one. Thesis editing is a separate
professional service under the IPEd standards, and we refer it out rather than offer it.
If a tutor holds this line and loses a client, we back the tutor. That guarantee is in writing,
and no tutor is ever penalised for refusing to cross a Red Line.
